About Quetrox
A friendlier way to read more, and read better
Quetrox is an independent publication about books and the reading life. We help curious readers find their next book and get more out of every one they open.
Why we started Quetrox
Most book coverage falls into one of two traps. It is either a wall of marketing copy dressed up as a review, or it is so academic that it forgets reading is supposed to be a pleasure. We wanted a third option: honest, useful writing for people who love books but never have quite enough time, and who would rather finish one great read than abandon five.
Quetrox started in 2026 as a shared reading list between friends who kept passing each other recommendations and arguing about endings. Those notes turned into reviews and reading guides, and those turned into this. Today we publish across four areas — reading life, book guides, genres and themes, and bookish living — all built on the same belief: a steady reading habit and an open mind beat any reading challenge or speed-reading trick.
What you can expect
Every article is written or edited by someone who has read the books and lived the reading habits we describe. We favour depth over hot takes, we revisit guides as new editions and translations appear, and we are upfront about what didn't land for us. When we recommend a book, it is because we'd press it into a friend's hands — not because anyone paid us to.

What we value
The principles behind every article
Read, then write
We write about books we have actually read and reading habits we have actually kept. If a book is overhyped or a method only sounds good on paper, we say so.
Reader-first, always
Our recommendations are independent. We are never paid to praise a title, and we keep advertising clearly separate from editorial.
Slow reading counts
We don't measure a reading life by the size of the pile. The goal is books that stay with you, not a longer finished list.
Plain and honest
No spoilers without warning, no padding, and no pretending every book is for everyone. We talk about books the way we would over coffee with a friend.
The team
Who writes Quetrox
Clara spent a decade as a bookseller and reading-group host before founding Quetrox. She reads across every genre, keeps a stubbornly analog reading journal, and believes the right book at the right time can change a season of your life.
Desmond is a former literature tutor who writes about fiction without the gatekeeping. He is as comfortable recommending a space opera as a Booker winner, and he is allergic to the idea that any kind of reading is a guilty pleasure.
Harriet writes about the practical side of a reading life — building the habit, beating the slump, and organizing a home library you actually use. She tracks every book she finishes and has opinions about bookmarks.
