How we work

Editorial Policy

How Quetrox researches, writes, and reviews its content — and how we stay independent.

Last updated: January 12, 2026

Trust is the only thing that makes a publication worth reading. This page explains how we research, write, review, and maintain everything on Quetrox — and how we keep our recommendations independent.

How we choose what to cover

We write about the questions real readers have: what to read next, how to get back into reading, how to make sense of a tricky book, and which titles in a genre are worth your time. Ideas come from our own reading, reader suggestions, new releases and overlooked backlist gems, and the books people keep asking us about. We do not praise a title just because it is trending, and we are happy to recommend an older book over a buzzy new one when it is the better read.

How we research and write

Every review or guide is written or edited by a named member of our team who has read the book or lived the reading habit in question. We read the full work before we write about it, we check facts such as authors, editions, and publication details against primary sources, and we mark spoilers clearly. Claims that depend on data are linked to their source. We don't recycle other sites' summaries.

Editing and review

Before publication, each piece is reviewed for accuracy, fairness, and usefulness. We ask a simple question of every draft: would this genuinely help a reader find or enjoy a book, or is it just filling space? If it is the latter, it does not run.

Our use of AI tools

Our articles are written and edited by people. We may use software for spell-checking, research, or suggesting outlines, but a human writer is responsible for the substance, accuracy, and final wording of everything we publish. We do not publish auto-generated reviews or content.

Independence and advertising

Quetrox is funded by advertising and, occasionally, affiliate links to booksellers. To protect your trust:

  • We never accept payment to give a positive review or to feature a book in editorial content.
  • Publishers and authors do not get to approve our reviews before they run.
  • Advertising is clearly distinguishable from articles.
  • Affiliate relationships never change our verdict — see our disclaimer for the full disclosure.

Corrections

We get things wrong sometimes, and when we do, we fix them quickly and transparently. If you spot an error, email hello@quetrox.com or use our contact form. Substantive corrections are noted on the article.

Updates

Because new editions, translations, and adaptations appear, we revisit popular guides and reviews and refresh them. When an article is meaningfully updated, the publication date reflects the most recent revision.
